Welcome to Day 5 of The Cycle, a 10-day email adventure.

I’m popping into your inbox every day between June 21-30 to talk to you about the building block numbers of 1-9, as well as our collective yearly cycle number, 10.

For paid pals, I’ll also be sending out my second diary entry on Day 6 for Days 4-6!

As I shared in the introduction, we are going to embody number energies, and feel our way through a cycle. These words—embody, feel through—are intentional choices, hand delivered by the numbers, themselves. They want to be experienced.

If that is not something you can give to yourself and these numbers right now, that is okay! This is evergreen information. Plus, part of the initial creative download of this series was to turn it into a digital zine, so it will be there for you when you’re more available and ready.

But if you want to get to this now, or you need a little more convincing… I have chosen these dates with intention!

Today is June 25, 2026, which is a numerological 23/5 day.

Taking time out of our day to touch in with 5 energy will then allow us to go out and approach the day with new knowledge and awareness. Perhaps we’ll see opportunities and tensions we would not have before attributed to being in a 5 day. It's this awareness that can help us begin to observe new patterns, as well as make intentional changes.

This takes a combination of awareness and action. We have to have both clarity and courage to get what we want, but also what we need. To have the experiences we need to have in order to be living, breathing, blinking, loving, human beings on this planet, who are unafraid, in 2026, to still claim some kind of life.

It’s with this zest and zeal that we meet the number five.

THANK YOU FOR READING COMMON DENOMINATORS

I want to grow this space, so if you’re liking what you’re reading, please consider sharing it with a friend or five! I’m also tending to this goal through 1-on-1 numerology readings, new shop offerings, and other upcoming goodies.

I’m also going to be sending updates of my own process to my paid pals, as well as starting a thread in The Commons for those who wish to share. So, if you do want to engage in the present-tense, you’re welcomed to upgrade your subscription here to read and join!

FIVE (5)

Even the most perfectly plotted plans are subject to change.

The number five rules the execution—when the rubber meets the road, the boat hits the water—brings about variables that no one can ever see coming.

Five is back in the belly. It's sudden and unexpected change. It is thinking you've got it all figured out, and then taking a step outside and realizing you don't really know much of anything at all. And in fact, all of the preparations you made are not what you need to get through.

That doesn't mean that all of that time planning was wasted.

It just means that we can never truly see the full scope of anything.

We must be flexible when it comes to our future, and we must be willing to get creative in order to effectively weather and create change. Change is constant. Octavia E. Butler says, “Change is God.” Therein lies the paradox of the number five: Everything is always changing, everything, always remains. It is the physics principle of matter cannot be created or destroyed. However, that matter can transform itself into birds and bees and humans and trees.

That is a powerful, liberating state of fluctuation and constancy!

One is being.

Two is feeling.

Three is expressing.

Four is editing.

Five is enjoying.

Five is all about fun. It has us in our feelings again. It is freedom, desire and passion. Five wants. It really, really wants. And it wants it like it wants it. It doesn't want some version of it, it wants is the version of it that it set out to get. Five can be quite bratty energy. It is a temper tantrum. It is emancipation. It comes with sound and fury, but instead of signifying nothing, it heralds a shift in the winds.

Four said, Do it this way. Five says, Don't tell me what to do.

Five is the messy middle. It lies in the liminal space between what is and what could be, and it is not the easiest of tunnels to drive through. It can be hard to see the light at the end of it, so we must take additional leaps of faith and trust our guts. We must move forward as though we will succeed.

It's that line from “Friday Night Lights": Clear eyes, Full hearts, Can’t lose.

This is the point in the draft where you want to erase everything you've written. This is the point in the painting where you want to splash paint all over the canvas and start over again. This is the point in the stitching where you realize you've made a mistake, and you need to unravel the last four rows in order to fix the problem. This is the part where you want to throw in the towel.

Five reminds us we're playing a game. A game we're in the middle of—look alive!—not the end. It's not over until it's over, and this thing is not over.

PROMPT: What do you think is fun? What do you enjoy doing? If you have easy access to this information, make a joy list! Write down 5-50 things you love to do and try to incorporate them into your days. If it’s not readily available, maybe the problem isn’t that you don’t enjoy anything, but that you’re judging yourself for what you like? Try to identify at least 5 joys, without guilt, shame or story.

Ram Dass said, “You can do it like it’s a great weight on you, or you can do it like it’s part of the dance.”

When it comes to the number five, you never know what you're gonna get. This can be tricky to navigate. It can bring up feelings of anger and rage. Five might fizzle as quickly as it flares, but even a little fire can do a lot of damage. This can be destabilizing and dysregulating.

There is a weight to the number five. It knows what matters. It knows what things mean, and what it's like to bear something. There is a connection to grief here, tender and true. But five is connected to two through emotional energy, so we get to choose how we react and respond.

Do we want to sag under the weight, or do we want to carry it well? Do we want to choose whatever levity is available to us, including that which we can create?

PRACTICAL MAGIC: Now that you’ve identified your roots, name how you’re switching things up, breaking the cycle, or even just personalizing practices to fit your unique needs. What does waking up and owning the power you spent the first few days calling back to yourself actually feel like in your body? What does every day rebellion look like to you? How does your craft represent you and delight you?

One asked us to be available. Two filled that space with feelings. Three wants us to attempt to communicate just what the fuck is going on. Four tightens our screws until we can stand on our own. Five asks us to lighten up enough to get through.

Five orients itself towards possibility. It’s improv; it says, Yes, and. It’s live and in living color. This makes for wild swings of the pendulum, and our job is to simply take the ride. To experience the shifts, to feel our stomachs drop into our butts, and to dance with life at its most wild and untamed.

Five is the experience of enjoying.

More, more, more. Go, go, go. If not now, when?

Today is for enjoying.

Five (5) through the Senses

Five (5) looks like ordering lunch from your favorite neighborhood place and picking it up, going to confession, a day at a state or county fair, a street sign that says No U-Turn, laughing as you run towards cover after getting caught in a freak rainstorm, a postcard sent from a beautiful foreign locale, wired headphones in a terrible tangle

Five (5) smells like sea salt and sand, an airplane bathroom, fresh freesias, hot asphalt, Chanel No. 5, teen spirit

Five (5) tastes like coconut water straight from the coconut, a bloody lip, hot dogs at the ballpark, ice cream from an ice cream truck on a hot summer day, tequila shots with salt and lime

Five (5) feels like riding a rollercoaster that goes both fast and upside down, the smooth surface of black obsidian, a chain of a locket hanging around your neck, stubbing your toe, getting roasted in good faith by your closest friends but also some of their comments cut a little deep but you’re good!

Five (5) sounds like the sharp cry of a seagull, the creaking springs of a mattress, an audience’s applause, a groan of pleasure, a bicyclist whizzing by, the soundtrack of a slot machine

Five (5) asks questions like What’s gotta give? What would it take for things to change around here? What’s there to fear except everything? How can you release even 5% of that fear so you can feel content?

CREATIVE CYCLING: This is the day you will want to quit. This is not the day you quit. Take yourself on an Artist’s Date. Read your favorite book or watch your favorite movie. Remind yourself why you love art, and love to make art. Do things that feel fun and easy and fill up your cup. Buy new supplies in pretty colors. Don’t sabotage yourself just because it feels hard today.

Five (5) on the Scale

Five (5) Day: Set a timer for 5 minutes and take that time for whatever you want!

Five (5) Week: Try a new route somewhere and stick to it for the whole week. See what it opens up for you.

Five (5) Month: Make a joy list and engage with one thing every day for all 28-31 days, respectively.

Five (5) Year: Focus on practices and experiences that regulate your nervous system and be ready to work your tools when the time comes.

PROMPT: What do you think stands in your way of enjoying yourself more? Chances are it’s due to a lack of something, albeit time, energy, motivation, etc. What if you took all of the excuses off the table today?

Until tomorrow, just enjoy.

I’d love to hear from you as we go, especially if you have ideas to make our journey even juicier! And if you enjoy what you’re reading, please share it with a friend or five. I’m also going to be sharing excerpts on my Instagram, @beescolnick. Engagement and shares are appreciated there too, but I understand it’s not a platform for everyone. (I’m doing an experiment of my own right now and it’s been telling.)

xx bee
